Effective Date: March 19, 2026
At My Library Helper, we believe that your reading habits and library data should stay private. This policy explains how our mobile application handles your information.
1. Information We Collect
- Library Data: Any books you scan or enter are stored locally on your device using Apple’s SwiftData technology. We do not upload your library catalog to our own servers.
- Camera Access: The app requires access to your device’s camera solely to scan barcodes or book covers. We do not record, store, or transmit images from your camera.
- Settings Info: Information entered in the Settings tab (such as Library Name or Address) is stored locally on your device to personalize your exports.
2. Third-Party Services
To provide book details (titles, authors, and covers), the app communicates with the Google Books API.
- When you scan a barcode, the ISBN is sent to Google to retrieve book information.
- This process is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not send any personally identifiable information to Google.
3. Data Storage and Deletion
- Local Storage: All your data lives on your iPhone. If you delete the app, all library data stored within the app is permanently deleted from your device.
- Start Fresh: You can use the “Start Fresh” (Trash) icon within the app to wipe your local database at any time.
4. Children’s Privacy
Our app is intended for use by library stewards of all ages. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Since all data remains on the user’s device, we do not have access to any data regarding the age of our users.
5. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the “Effective Date” at the top.
